overview
Galway Bay Golf Club sits on the Renville Peninsula and is surrounded by history going back millennia. The whole property has evidence of Ireland‘s history dating back to pre Christian and Celtic times, with ring forts, ancient copper mines and remains of castles. This lovely course, which sees the sun setting on its horizon over Galway Bay, was designed by Christy O’ Connor Jnr., Ryder Cup Player, Tour Professional and native of Galway, Ireland. In his own words: I have designed this par 72 championship course using all of the challenges imposed by the natural lie of the Galway Coast and the limitations of the Atlantic Ocean. My fellow directors and I are very proud of our achievement. I have developed a course which is of championship standard, but in my opinion, a fair test in golf.” Players on this course will enjoy the usual challenges offered by all of Ireland’s great links courses as well as its most beautiful of settings. The 19th hole offers a warm welcome and good cuisine while nearby is the newly developed 92 bedroomed Galway Bay Country Club Hotel. This spot, along Galway’s coastline, is also home to a fine marina, so if boating is an additional past time to your golf then you will find no nicer place to spend a few days. “
